I can understand why some people don't want to get fit. The whole "No pain - no gain" philosophy is woven into our culture. Really? The only way to fitness is through suffering? Not my philosophy that is for sure. I have always done fun things and managed to get exercise while I do it. Hey its whatever works for you. I am not saying that one way is better than the other but for me, "Fun First and Fitness Second" has always been the rule.

Fun Fitness to do Close to Home

Shoot some hoops at the closest basketball net

Go to the roller skating rink to reconnect yourself to the 70's

Go walk your dog, or somebodies dog

Play Frisbee

Play volleyball

Kick a soccer ball around

Play catch with a football or baseball

Do cartwheels or walk on your hands

Skateboarding, In-line Skating or biking on a paved trail

Start a fitness program based around only fun activities that give you a good cardio workout and you really enjoy doing.

Go to a water slide and go up and down the stairs

Get a P90x workout video and see if you can make you're belly ripple with strength

When you are doing any kind of cleaning - do it enthusiastically, bend and stretch and twist while you do it. Try to do it as fast and thoroughly as you possibly can. Play some music and get your groove on.

Go to a playground and try out some of the gear. there is usually a set of monkey bars that you can try to move across using only your hands

Enter and train for a running race triathlon or just go run a mile

Play tennis, badminton or ping pong

Take a lesson at a sport that you are trying to improve

Start a healthy diet

Play with some little kids that are full of energy

Team sports allow you to burn off considerable amounts of calories, connect with new people and have plenty of fun. If you haven't participated since school you may want to to sign up for a non competitive league and just go for the fun and exercise of it all.

Fun Exercise At a Fitness or Health Center

Now I have to say that a fitness center is my least favorite place to get fit but seem people like the structure and the environment. Fluorescent lights and public sweat collection devices are not for me. It's not about what the best thing to do is - its about the best activity that keeps you interested in keeps you motivated to do it on a regular basis
